"My WPS Story-Connection Through Stories," presented by Suzy Finn, Marketing and Strategic Partnerships Supervisor, Wichita Public Schools, Wichita, KS
A 2023 NSPRA Golden Achievement Award Winner: With data showing declining employee engagement and increasing numbers of employees leaving the education profession, the Strategic Communications team at Wichita Public Schools worked to empower WPS employees to be champions of public education.
I am a futurist: I thrive on connecting people, ideas, and resources in exciting new ways to help people, companies/organizations, and communities realize their potential.
As the Marketing & Strategic Partnerships Supervisor for Wichita Public Schools since 2018, I have used those skills to connect organizations to our schools and to create content and strategies that connect our district’s story to our most important audiences: employees, families and community leaders. During that time, I have worked on or led four projects that won awards at the national school PR level.
My professional experience includes work at an economic development based non-profit; in a large, corporate setting; locally-owned retail; K-12 PR/communications; and higher education. My understanding of business concepts from my MBA supplements my professional experience from entry level to managerial positions, as well as nonprofit volunteer and board member roles. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations with a minor in Graphic Design from Marquette University and a Master of Business Administration from Wichita State University.
