    Brochure

    School District: Harford County Public Schools                                
     
    Description:  The Judy Center brochure was created for families of children who may benefit from the early educational services provided. The Harford County Public Schools Judy Center is located at Magnolia Elementary School in Joppa, Maryland. This brochure is available in-print at Magnolia Elementary and at our central office building. The brochure is also available in Spanish.

     

     

    School District: Baltimore County Public Schools                              

     
    Description:  For 11 years, BCPS has operated an exchange program with Tie Yi High School in Xi’an, China. The brochure was created to explain the program to students and their parents or guardians. Department chairs of world languages distributed almost 1,000 brochures in addition to those distributed to parents and students at two informational nights. The brochure features photos of students enjoying school activities and visiting sites as well as alumni reflections on how the experience impacted their lives.

    Description: Frederick County Public Schools 2015-16 Fast Facts is a print piece designed to meet the Virginia Department of Education’s requirements regarding the distribution of certain information to parents and the community.  Fast Facts is a quick reference tool which highlights each of Frederick County’s public schools, as well as basic student achievement data.  The document also includes information on student membership, the school division’s budget, the division’s Capital Improvement Plan and members of the School Board.  Fast Facts is made available at all school offices and the FCPS Administration Building.  A pdf of the publication can also be accessed through the FCPS website. 
     
     
     

    School District: Frederick County Public Schools (VA)                        

     
    Description: The 2015-16 School Emergency Guide for Parents is designed to provide parents with the information they need to know in the event of an emergency at one of our schools.  The brochure notes the various agencies the school division works with to plan for and respond to emergencies as well as a number of school safety and security tips.  In addition, the brochure provides parents with information on how they should prepare for a school emergency and respond should there be an emergency at their child’s school.   The document also highlights the use of the buzz-in entry system at each of Frederick County’s elementary school as well as how the school division utilizes its Rapid Communication System to communicate in the event of an emergency.    The brochures, which are printed in both English and Spanish, are sent home with all students the first day of school and are provided to parents when they register their children for school during the year. They are also made available throughout the school year in all school offices and electronic versions are posted on the FCPS website.  
     
     

     

    School District: Newport News Public Schools

    Description:  The "You've Got Options" campaign targets current 8th - 12th grade students.  The campaign ties together all of the options our high schoolers have available to them.  The campaign includes an oversized brochure, a set of 24x36 posters, 8.5x11 flyers that were also used as pages in the Student Handbook, and a Power Point presentation used at at back to school nights and open houses. The focus of the campaign is to make students aware of the various ways they can complete credits, raise their GPA, attend different programs, etc.

    Description:  The Spotsylvania County Public Schools Department updated their recruitment materials for the 2016 Spring Recruitment season.  The revisions reflected the School Division’s branding as well as including the information potential applicants ask for most frequently.  The materials are available for distribution at any event SCPS representatives attend for recruitment purposes.

    Description:

    School District: Baltimore County Public Schools

    Description: During the 2015-16 school year, the community and public relations department developed a microsite for the Human Resources department with recruitment efforts. Staff then used Ipad stations featuring the site at all recruiting events  to give prospective employees access to the site and immediate application access. The site was also promoted online and through print materials. HR staff are also able to review site hit data to assess the effectiveness of the various events attended.

     

    School District: Harford County Public Schools  

    Description: 

    Our annual parent-student handbook calendar is designed and printed in June, for the following school year. The Harford County Public Schools handbook is included, as well as a full 12-month calendar listing important school events. Student artwork is utilized for the monthly calendar section. The calendar is distributed to students during the first week of school, in August.

     

     

    School District: Fairfax County Public Schools
    Description: 

    The 2015-16 Career and Technical Education calendar is designed to highlight the success of  Career and Technical Education alumni, while promoting career and technical education coursework. Its target audience is the business community and school guidance counselors.  

     

    School District: Talbot County Public Schools

    Description: 

    The 2015 TCPS calendar was a showcase of student artwork that is included in the Superintendent's Annual Art Gallery. The piece includes policies and specific school and district information.The calendar was mailed to all TCPS families and distributed to community partners.

    School District: Chesterfield County Public Schools
    Description:  

    Introduced highlights of the Superintendent's FY 2017 Financial Plan to employees, parents and the community.

     

    School District: Frederick County Public Schools (VA)                                                     

    Description: 

    The School Board Approved Budget for FY2017 is distributed to school board members, county officials, school administrators, and the media to provide an overview of the school division’s operations and budget.  It is also made available by request to citizens and posted on the FCPS website.  In addition, a copy of the document is available for review in the main office at each of our schools.  The publication contains detailed financial information as well as a variety of data about the operations of the school division.  In many ways, the budget document serves as an encyclopedia of Frederick County Public Schools’ budget and operations.  


     

     

     Handbook

    School District: Baltimore County Public Schools

    Description:  The Student Handbook is a critical part of the start of each school year to inform students and parents of their responsibilities and rights including sections on access to student records, technology use, and student behavior including suggested interventions by misconduct category. Students and parents must sign and date the handbook’s acknowledgement form.  In 2015-2016, the report was distributed to more than 111,000 students.

     

    School District: Charles County Public Schools

    Description:  

    The Charles County Public Schools Parent Handbook/Calendar is distributed to more than 40,000 community members annually. The goal of the handbook/calendar is to provide parents, students, staff, teachers and the Charles County community with important information about the school system, as well as dates of major system events. The product is in high demand at the start of each school year, with several businesses and community groups requesting the document before school begins.

    Op Ed

     

    School District: Baltimore County Public Schools

    Description: 

    This op-ed by Superintendent Dr. S. Dallas Dance was published on November 22, 2015, by the Baltimore region’s leading daily newspaper, the Baltimore Sun. Early in the annual budget process, Dr. Dance made the case to the community for ensuring educational equity by investing in systemwide, innovative learning strategies including equity leadership training, learner-centered environments, the S.T.A.T. 1:1 digital learning transformation, and the Passport elementary Spanish program.

     

    School District: Frederick County Public Schools (VA)                                                    

    Description: 

    Immediately prior to the start of the 2015-16 school year, the Chairman of the Frederick County School Board had an Open Forum editorial published in the local newspaper.  The piece was written to highlight some of the many successes the school division had enjoyed over the past year including an increased on-time graduation rate, the start of a full-day kindergarten program divisionwide and the implementation of a 1:1 Chromebook initiative.  The letter also updated the community on the progress being made on several capital projects including construction of a new middle school, the design of a new high school and plans for a new elementary school.  The editorial also encouraged members of the community to get involved in schools by supporting students and/or volunteering to make a positive impact for children in the community.

    Description: The State of the Schools Report was distributed to 1,200 guests at this annual community luncheon, which celebrates students and schools through student performances, artwork, and speeches. The report highlights the role of the event host, the Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools, in securing supplementary funds to support grants and scholarships, as well as providing an overview of BCPS, and spotlighting major initiatives.

    Description: 

    Dollar$ and $en$e is a publication produced while the budget for the school year is proposed, discussed, and approved.  It contains the latest budget news and important dates, and clarifies budget misconceptions in order to help the CPS community better understand the budget and the budget process.  This publication is distributed to our parents and staff via Peachjar (eflyers), is placed on our CPS webpage, and sent to business leaders in the community.

    School District: Frederick County Public Schools (VA)

    Description:  The Frederick County Public Schools Annual Report is designed to give parents, students, business leaders, and other members of the community an overview of the many successes of the school division as well as the priorities and accomplishments of the School Board.   In the 2015-16 edition of the Annual Report, a special section was devoted to the work of Bright Futures-Frederick County and the impact the organization is having on students.  The annual report is made available at all schools, a variety of school/community events and on the Frederick County Public Schools website.  The Superintendent and members of the School Board frequently distribute copies of the Annual Report during events at which they speak.  

     

     

    School District: Hanover County Public Schools

    Description:  

    This report was created by the Communications staff in conjunction with our new Superintendent to highlight accomplishments and future goals to the Hanover County School Board, staff, community leaders and parents.

    Description: 

    The Virginia School Board Association hosts a poster contest each year.  The senior staff determined the poster should be dedicated to our career and technical education efforts in Hanover, and is reflected in our poster design.  The full color 22x28 poster was printed on 8th inch PVC board and is proudly on display at the division’s TV99 Television Studio

    School District: Newport News Public Schools                                                               

    Description: Signs of Success in Newport News Public Schools - Signs of Success in Newport News Public Schools was a year long campaign of communicating the successes of the school division for the 2015 school year to parents, staff and community members.   Pieces included a full page ad Report to the Community published in the newspaper, quarter page and half page newspaper ads, way to go notes for employees, 24x36 posters, and 8.5 x 11 single page handouts. 

     

     

    School District: Newport News Public Schools                                                               

    Description:  WE LEAP - Wonderful Extended Learning, Enrichment & Advancement Program is a program funded by a grant from the VDOE that allows us to provided extended learning opportunities to all students in three schools.  Printed pieces are targeted to parents to enroll their students in the program that takes place after school and on Saturdays and to staff who we encourage to apply to work the program.    Pieces included registration forms, passports for Saturday events, mailers and a special event mailer.

     

     

    School District: Talbot County Public Schools                                                                 

    Description: 

    The TCPS Annual Report includes school system graduation and test data, demographics along with financial information. The audience is the Talbot County community. The report was distributed electronically by TCPS and the Chamber of Commerce. Print copies were distributed to all schools and the Superintendent uses the publication for community and parent presentations.

    Description: 

    In the Spring of 2016 TCPS held the first Educational Partner Recognition Breakfast. The brochure was produced for the event and all partners listed received a copy. The event and the brochure were very well received and it is a program we are expanding!

    Description: 

    TCPS went through the Strategic Plan Planning process during the 2014-15 school year. It was a community effort and the printed plan that outlines the process and priorities stakeholders set for Talbot County Public Schools. The printed plan was produced in the Fall of 2015 and has been distributed to the community at all school and district events. The superintendent includes the plan in all presentations. It serves as the core for all communications efforts.

    School District: Frederick County Public Schools (VA)                                                     

    Description: 

    At the 2015 Frederick County Public Schools Convocation, Schools Superintendent David Sovine presented a keynote address to all FCPS staff entitled “Innovate, Engage, Focus”.   In his speech, Dr. Sovine discussed the importance of staff being innovative, engaging students in the learning process, and focusing on the needs of each individual student.  His speech included several videos which highlighted some of the initiatives directly related to innovation, student engagement and meeting the needs of all students.  (The entry includes links to each of the videos.  The finale video ran as the Millbrook High School Choir performed a closing song) Dr. Sovine concluded his speech by reminding staff of the impact they have on students and encouraged them to “Know Thy Impact”.
